As part of the Année Le Nôtre and Salon Lire au jardin 2013, the Palace of Versailles has just launched a new Tumblr blog and is hosting an exclusive meetup for a few lucky bloggers this Saturday to celebrate. Nicolas Jacquet, author of Secrets et curiosités des jardins de Versailles, will be our guide and reveal fascinating stories about the gardens. We still have a few spaces left on the guest list. If you’d like to join us at 2pm on 27 April in the Versailles gardens, simply RSVP redaction@tumblr.com. In the meantime, Versailles invites you to post a picture of yourself reading in a garden. Just tag it with #unjardinunlivre. The best photos will be featured on the official unjardin-unlivre.tumblr.com blog, and the Versailles website and Facebook page.

  • There have been some really great meetups in Brazil over the past few months, with over 500 users meeting in Rio de Janeiro dressed up as zombies and other cool creatures (this same group has been planning some pretty cool stuff for charitable causes too, like donations and cleaning up their city), as well as users in Jequié celebrating Children’s Day in style in October.

  • Berlin is Tech Central this week!

    With Campus Party Europe and the very first Tech Open Air festival both happening in Berlin this week, we’re in for a busy few days of workshops, innovations and networking. Campus Party - the world’s largest tech event with over 10,000 participants - kicked off to a great start last night and promises to be a fantastic global gathering of hackers, geeks and entrepreneurs. The motto of this year’s Campus Party Europe is to “retype Europe’s source code - to transform Europe into a better place”, and whether you are interested in astronomy, robotics, gaming, entrepreneurship or any of the other 24 subject areas, there are plenty of keynotes, panels and challenges to attend. Two of the most prominent speakers this year are Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho and the inventor of the World Wide Web, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, who will be talking about the Internet, its beginnings and its future. We’ll be on site at Berlin’s historic Tempelhof airport all week - look for us in our Tumblr t-shirts and ask for some stickers!

    Tech Open Air will begin tomorrow, with pitches and workshops revolving around the start-up scene, as well as talks and panel discussions by established entrepreneurs in the tech scene. All this will be followed by numerous satellite events across the city on Friday, with barbecues, brunches and evening shindigs to round off the two day festival. And of course we’re hosting a Tumblr Summer Social on Friday, an opportunity to meet old and new friends, as well as let our hair down a little during one of the busiest weeks of the year.

    If you’re in Berlin this week be sure not to miss out on these techtastic events!

  • We ❤ Lisboa

    Over 600 peeps turned out in Lisbon to party with Tumblr and Vice in celebration of Portuguese Tumblr. About ten different bands played, the police showed up, and my ears are still throbbing. Bonus: death metal, death metal, death metal (not pictured).

    Lisbon was rad. We fit hundreds of crazy fantastic people into the amazing space at Tabernas das Almas this past weekend, and woah, did they party hard. Thanks to our awesome community in Portugal, to Sérgio, Nuno, David and Joaquim from Vice PT, and to all our sponsors for the great night (ah, and morning) :D
